A pair of porcelain busts depicting an 18th-century style couple in Rococo attire, attributed to Cordey. The female figure is portrayed wearing an elaborate lace-trimmed bonnet and a bodice in shades of green and cream, accented with three applied pink rosebuds and a black bow. The male figure features powdered hair tied back, a beige jacket, and a highly detailed ruffled jabot adorned with a black bow and applied pink rosebuds. Both figures are mounted on integral, ornate scroll-moulded bases finished in a white glaze with gilt-painted accents. The pieces are constructed from glazed and hand-painted porcelain with intricate, applied three-dimensional floral and lace-effect details. No maker marks are visible to the exterior; the items bear contemporary identification stickers.
Condition report:
The busts appear to be in good overall condition. The delicate applied porcelain roses and the intricate lace-work on the ruffles and bonnet show no obvious major chips or losses from the primary viewing angle. As is common with this type of ware, these areas are particularly fragile and may have minor, inconspicuous losses. There are no visible signs of restoration or repair.
