This assortment of decorative items features a rectangular Russian lacquer box crafted from papier-mâché with a black lacquer finish. The lid is hand-painted with a traditional Russian folklore scene in a miniature style associated with the villages of Palekh or Fedoskino. The scene features figures in vibrant tones of red, blue, and gold against a dark background, framed by a fine gold-painted filigree border. There are small Cyrillic inscriptions in gold paint at the base of the miniature, though they are not clearly legible. The collection also includes a dark-patinated cast metal sculpture in the Art Nouveau style, depicting a female figure undergoing metamorphosis into a tree. The figure stands on a tiered circular base. Additionally, there is a heart-shaped metal box featuring a lid with a pierced foliate design and a dark-toned turned candlestick. Each item bears small white or orange auction lot stickers.
Condition report:
The items are in good vintage condition with evidence of light surface wear throughout. The Russian lacquer box shows minor scuffing to the lid and edges. There is light dust accumulation in the crevices of the sculpture and the heart-shaped box.
