Lot 63: A late 19th or early 20th century octagonal ceramic cheese dish and cover in a Chinoiserie pattern
Attributed to Keeling and Co, this Losol Ware style octagonal ceramic cheese dish and cover is decorated in a Chinoiserie palette. The pattern, resembling the Exotic design, features a stylised flowering tree and a bird among floral sprays in iron-red, pink, green, and blue enamels. The decoration consists of transfer-printed outlines with hand-painted polychrome highlights. Both the high-domed cover and the clipped-corner base tray are finished with a repeating border of blue and black geometric eyelet patterns. The cover is fitted with a loop handle featuring gilt detailing. No maker’s marks are visible on the exterior surfaces shown.
Condition report:
The piece appears to be in good overall condition. There are no obvious chips, cracks, or repairs visible to the cover or the base tray. There is minor, age-appropriate wear to the gilt highlights on the handle and along the rims. The interior of the cover and the underside of the base have not been inspected.
