Lot 429: Vintage Folding Portable Workbench and Vice in the Style of a Black and Decker Workmate
A vintage portable folding workbench and vice, constructed with a black-painted steel frame and folding legs. The work surface comprises two rectangular wooden blocks designed to function as a vice mechanism, which is operated by two winding handles with orange plastic tips. The overall design and colour palette are characteristic of the Black and Decker Workmate series from the late 20th century, although no specific manufacturer’s marks or model identifications are visible on the frame.
Condition report:
The item is in well-used, as-found condition. There is evident surface rust and oxidation throughout the steel frame. The wooden work surfaces show signs of weathering and wear from use. The original feet appear to be absent or damaged, with the ends of the legs currently bound with silver adhesive tape. The mechanical operation of the vice handles and the folding frame has not been tested.
