The auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A collection of framed pictures, the primary work being an early 19th-century topographical steel engraving of St Osyth’s Priory in Essex, England, after a drawing by John Preston Neale (1780–1847). The engraving depicts the priory’s ornate flint-flushwork gatehouse and residential buildings, featuring small figures in the foreground and hand-coloured details to the landscape and sky. A clear plate mark is visible around the composition. The work is titled ST. OSYTH’S PRIORY, ESSEX. and is inscribed Drawn by J.P. Neale to the lower left. The engraver’s name is located at the lower right, and a publication line at the bottom indicates it was published in London on 1 April 1834 by J.P. Neale & Co. The print is housed in a modern double mount and a black-and-gold finished frame. The collection further includes multiple other framed items, including a landscape watercolour and various prints in gilt and wood frames.

Condition report:

The primary engraving is in good condition, showing light and even toning consistent with its age. There are no obvious signs of foxing, tears, or significant plate wear. The modern frame for this piece shows minor surface scuffing. The other items in the collection exhibit varied condition, with some age-related wear to the frames and mounts.
