Lot 316: FK (20th Century), Expressionist Harbour Scene, Oil on Board
This mid-20th-century expressionist oil on board depicts a vertical-format harbour scene. The composition is defined by dark, silhouetted architectural forms and masts rendered with vigorous brushwork and heavy impasto, set against a pale, atmospheric sky. The painting is signed in the lower right corner with the initials FK. The work is housed in a substantial, stepped gilt wood frame with a textured, stippled finish and a contrasting black inner slip. The verso is not visible, but the support appears to be board. There is a small white lot sticker on the inner frame and an orange tag on the outer right edge.
