Lot 306: A Pair of Watercolours by Edwin Proctor Depicting British Maritime Scenes
A pair of detailed watercolour paintings on paper by Edwin Proctor. Both works are signed Edwin Proctor vertically along the right-hand edge of the composition. One work depicts a boatbuilding yard with the skeletal wooden frame of a vessel, featuring figures at work and a traditional windmill in the background. The second work shows a blue-hulled fishing boat with the registration BH 33, denoting the port of Blyth, on a shoreline. Figures are shown attending to the craft with a coastal jetty visible in the distance. Both paintings are executed in a realist style with a focus on technical and atmospheric detail. The works are presented in matching dark wood frames with gilt inner slips and off-white window mounts.
Condition report:
