APRIL AUCTION

Lot 241: A Set of Six Early 20th Century Anglo-Indian Brass Footed Cups in a Fitted Case

The auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A set of six small brass goblets or footed cups, likely produced in South Asia during the early 20th century for the export or souvenir market. Each vessel features a bulbous bowl, a slender waisted stem, and a flared circular foot. The exterior of the bowls is decorated with hand-engraved or chased motifs, including radiating foliate fans and simple geometric line work. The cups are constructed from cast brass and exhibit a dark, aged patina throughout. The set is housed in a period fitted presentation case with a purple fabric lining. No maker’s marks or hallmarks are visible on the items.

Condition report:

The brass cups show significant surface tarnish, oxidation, and general wear consistent with age. The fitted presentation case is in poor condition; the exterior fabric is heavily worn and frayed at the edges. The interior fabric lining shows significant staining, fading, and fraying, with some areas of the lining becoming detached from the internal structure.
