Lot 188: A mid-20th-century porcelain figurine of a couchant fawn, attributed to Rosenthal
A naturalistically modelled glazed porcelain figurine depicting a resting fawn in a couchant pose with its head turned. The piece is finished in a high-gloss glaze and decorated with hand-painted shading in tones of tan and brown, accented by white spots to the back and flanks. Facial features including the eyes and nose are picked out in black, with soft grey tonal shading to the inner ears. The style and execution of the piece are highly characteristic of the animal figures produced by the Rosenthal factory in Germany during the mid-20th century. No manufacturer marks or model numbers are visible on the exterior surfaces. An orange adhesive lot sticker hand-marked with the number 188 is attached to the side.
Condition report:
The figurine appears to be in excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks, or visible repairs to the delicate ears, body, or extremities. The glaze remains bright and retains a high-gloss finish throughout.
