Lot 141: Commemorative Hakone Tozan Railway Two Car Model Train Assembly Kit
A vintage Japanese model train assembly kit produced as a commemorative item for the 40th Anniversary of the Hakone Golden Course. The set features the Hakone Tozan Railway mountain train in a two-car formation representing Units 101 and 102. The kit is constructed with lithographed tinplate bodies for the train cars, complemented by plastic and metal components for the internal chassis, wheel assemblies, and track sections. The contents comprise two train bodies, various chassis components, wheels, a set of straight and curved track pieces, and a printed instruction sheet. A gold-tone foil label is affixed to a black chassis component, marked MADE IN JAPAN and No. 0416. Additional embossed MADE IN JAPAN markings are visible on several internal plastic parts. The box lid features detailed Japanese text translating to Tinplate Hakone Tozan Electric Train and 40th Anniversary Commemoration of the opening of the Hakone Golden Course.
Condition report:
The kit is in an unassembled, new old stock condition. All internal components appear to be present and remain secured to the original cardboard display insert by factory ties. The lithographed finishes on the train bodies are well-preserved with bright colours. The original illustrated box lid shows typical age-related shelf wear, including surface scuffs, light soiling, and wear to the corners and edges.
