Lot 250: A Mid-20th Century Roneo Vickers Two-Tone Four-Drawer Steel Filing Cabinet
A mid-20th-century four-drawer vertical filing cabinet manufactured by Roneo Vickers, as evidenced by the manufacturer’s label situated on the upper left-hand side of the frame. The cabinet is of single-piece sheet metal construction with a two-tone painted finish, consisting of a dark chocolate brown body and cream-coloured drawer fronts. It features a plunger-style lock mechanism located at the top left corner. The drawers are equipped with silver-toned metal hardware, including rectangular label holders. The third drawer down is currently fitted with a D-shaped pull handle. This item is a classic example of British industrial office furniture from the mid-century period.
Condition report:
The cabinet is in a used, utilitarian condition consistent with its age and office origin. There are visible surface scuffs, scratches, and minor areas of paint loss across the carcass and drawer fronts. Significant sticker residue is present on the face of the bottom drawer. The drawer hardware is inconsistent or partially missing, with three of the four drawers lacking pull handles, though the label holder frames remain.
