Lot 208: A Post-WWII Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm Petty Officer No. 1 Dress Jacket
A Royal Navy No. 1 Dress uniform jacket for a Petty Officer within the Fleet Air Arm. The garment is constructed from dark navy blue wool in a double-breasted style, featuring two rows of three gilt brass buttons. Each button is embossed with the Royal Navy fouled anchor and crown. The right sleeve displays red embroidered insignia consisting of a Petty Officer rank badge with a crown over crossed anchors, situated above three red Good Conduct chevrons. The left sleeve bears a red embroidered eagle trade badge for the Fleet Air Arm branch. A single medal ribbon for the Royal Navy Long Service and Good Conduct medal is affixed above the left breast pocket. The interior contains a white cloth issue label printed with Size 176, Jacket Mens, Uniform No. 1, Navy Blue, and NATO Stock Number prefix 8405-99-977.
Condition report:
The jacket is in good used condition. The wool maintains a deep colour with minor surface lint. The embroidered insignia is crisp and the gilt buttons exhibit light patination. The ribbon bar is securely attached. No moth damage or structural issues are observed.
