A Victorian Mahogany Balloon-Back Side Chair
A Victorian mahogany balloon-back side chair featuring a carved frame with an open back and central foliate scrollwork splat. The chair is constructed with cabriole front legs and an upholstered seat. The underside reveals a traditional construction method using woven jute webbing for seat support. A small orange inventory sticker marked 521 is adhered to the interior of the wooden frame.
The chair is in an unrestored condition consistent with age and use. The mahogany frame exhibits an aged patina with various scuffs, scratches, and surface marks. The internal jute webbing is significantly worn and shows heavy fraying.
