Lot 586: A Collection of Vintage Personal Accessories and Metalware Including Tins
A collection of mid-20th-century personal accessories and small metal containers. The group includes a large hinged tin box featuring a black ground with a gold-tone floral motif, containing an assortment of items such as folding pocket knives, mechanical lighters, powder compacts, decorative pins, and various small metal trinkets. Accompanying the larger tin is a small rectangular silver-toned hinged case fitted with internal elastic bands and a Weldite Cycle Repair Outfit tin containing bicycle repair supplies and printed instructional text to the interior lid. The items are constructed from various base metals, steel, and plated alloys.
Condition report:
The collection shows signs of age-appropriate wear throughout. Visible surface scratches, tarnishing, and areas of oxidation are present on the metal components. The tins exhibit some paint loss and minor denting consistent with use and storage. The internal elastic bands in the silver-toned case show loss of elasticity.
