A collection of two ceramic pitchers of varying styles. The first is an English Majolica Toby jug depicting the character Martha Gunn, known as the Brighton Dipper. This figural jug is finished in a multi-coloured green and ochre yellow high-gloss glaze, featuring a character form with a textured, barrel-style lower body. The second item is a cream-coloured ceramic pitcher with a high-gloss finish, featuring a distinctive arched brown handle and a painted botanical design consisting of brown leaves and yellow buds. The cream pitcher bears an orange adhesive label marked 204 and a small hand-painted artist’s monogram near the rim. Both pieces are constructed from glazed earthenware.
Condition report:
The Martha Gunn Toby jug exhibits visible wear and minor chipping along the upper rim. The cream-coloured pitcher appears to be in good condition. Both pieces show minor surface marks consistent with age and handling.
