Lot was removed from auction
A 19th century mahogany longcase clock by James Whitelaw of Edinburgh. The case is constructed from figured mahogany and features a hood with a swan-neck pediment, carved scrollwork, and brass paterae. The arched painted dial is signed Ja’s Whitelaw Edinburgh and is decorated with floral-painted spandrels and a central fruit and flower motif within the arch. The dial face displays Roman numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial, and a date aperture. The trunk is fitted with a long door and the entire piece sits on a stepped plinth base.
