Buyer's Premium:

A commemorative award medal from Windermere Grammar School, dated 1936, likely silver or silver-plated. The medal was awarded as a ‘Victor Ludorum (Winner of the Games) (Tie) and First Set Run Mile’ prize to R.V. Bickerton. The obverse features the school crest, depicting heraldic lions and other symbols, encircled by ‘WINDERMERE GRAMMAR SCHOOL’ and the Latin motto ‘E MONTIBUS VIRTUTEM’ (From the mountains, courage/strength). The medal is presented in its original dark, possibly leatherette-covered case with a cream fabric-lined lid and royal blue velvet base. The case lining is printed with ‘T. Jon, Jeweller & Silversmith, Windermere’. A circular paper label tied to the medal provides the award details and also notes ‘EN.Simmons. 12/02 MICHAEL FINLAY’.
