Lot 219: A Collection of British Topographical Postcards in Five Albums
A substantial collection of card stock postcards, housed in at least five binder-style albums. Four albums are explicitly labeled on their blue and maroon faux-leather or vinyl spines: ‘OTHERS LONDON & ROYALTY,’ ‘DORSET ISLE OF MAN CHANNEL ISLES OTHERS CYPRUS,’ ‘LAKE DISTRICT,’ and ‘TORQUAY V DEVON CORNWALL.’ Numeric identifiers such as ’19,’ ‘214,’ and ‘213’ are also present. The open album reveals multiple postcards, predominantly featuring scenic landscapes of mountainous regions, lakes, and villages, consistent with the ‘Lake District’ theme, including views of Wastwater as strongly suggested by web intelligence. Some postcards display small crests. The postcards are preserved within clear plastic sleeves.
