1960s Italian Marquetry Inlaid Fall-Front Secretary Desk
A 1960s Italian marquetry inlaid fall-front secretary desk. This elaborate bureau features a fall-front mechanism atop a three-drawer commode base. Constructed of veneered hardwood, likely walnut, it is extensively decorated with intricate floral and foliate marquetry in contrasting lighter woods, visible on the fall-front, sides, and serpentine drawer fronts. The desk exhibits a distinct bombé front profile and stands on four cabriole legs, characteristic of Rococo Revival style. The fall-front opens to reveal a fitted interior with small drawers and compartments. Hardware consists of brass or bronze escutcheons and pulls.
