A Collection of Antique Hard Stone Spheres in a Carved Wooden Bowl
A collection of seven polished spherical objects crafted from various natural stones or minerals, presented in a hand-carved, dark brown wooden bowl. The spheres, consistent with antique hard stone or marble examples, possibly of 19th Century Grand Tour origin, include one dark grey example with distinct white veining, several variegated spheres featuring mottled patterns of cream, tan, and dark grey, and at least two spheres exhibiting intricate white, possibly fossilized, structures against a greyish-brown matrix. The hand-carved dark brown wooden bowl has a deep, rounded interior and exhibits visible tool marks. Small orange adhesive labels marked with the number “192” are present on several spheres and the bowl’s rim.
