A British mid-20th-century two-strand graduated necklace featuring spherical beads with a pearlescent finish, knotted between each element. The necklace is secured by a large, decorative silver-tone metal openwork filigree floral-style box clasp. The necklace is housed in its original rectangular presentation case with a dark brown textured exterior and a cream-coloured satin and velvet-effect interior featuring a raised central display form. The interior lid is printed with a gold-tone logo consisting of the name Pompadour Pearls in a script font, followed by the word LIMITED in a smaller sans-serif font, and the tagline Pearls for a Princess in a script font. The case also contains a small rectangular white adhesive label printed with the number 16 and a larger orange rectangular adhesive label printed with the number 505.
Condition report:
The simulated pearls retain a good lustre with no visible losses to the pearlescent coating (photo 1). The stringing appears secure and intact. The silver-tone clasp shows no visible tarnishing or damage to the filigree work. The presentation case shows light shelf wear to the exterior corners and edges, and the interior satin lining exhibits yellowing and minor foxing consistent with age (photo 1).
