A collection of costume jewellery presented in two distinct containers. The first container is a rectangular metal box featuring an embossed lid and side panels depicting figurative scenes in a landscape. This box contains a variety of yellow-metal necklaces and chains, including curb, box, and cable link constructions. Notable items within this group include a circular pendant or button set with an iridescent abalone shell inlay and a length of yellow-metal fringe or tassel. The second container is a smaller rectangular box with a dark, mottled finish, lined with white tissue paper. It holds an assortment of white-metal necklaces, primarily consisting of fine-link chains, including some flattened curb styles. A small red jewellery box is also visible within the larger metal container. A orange adhesive label reading 503 is attached to the interior lid of the metal box. No hallmarks, purity stamps, or maker’s marks are legible on the jewellery items.
Condition report:
The jewellery items appear tangled and are stored loosely within the containers (photo 1). The larger metal box shows significant surface oxidation, tarnish, and wear to the finish throughout the exterior and interior surfaces (photo 1). The smaller mottled box shows minor wear to the edges. The jewellery items themselves appear to be in fair condition, though metal surfaces show varying degrees of dulling consistent with age and use.
