Lot 502: 2008 UK Royal Shield of Arms Proof Collection
A collection of UK proof coinage issued by the Royal Mint in 2008. This Royal Shield of Arms Proof Collection is presented in a black leatherette-style case with a velvet-lined interior and includes a descriptive booklet featuring a printed coat of arms and the text The Royal Mint 2008 United Kingdom Coinage Royal Shield of Arms Proof Collection. The set comprises seven coins: a yellow-toned one-pound coin, a large silver-toned fifty-pence piece, a silver-toned twenty-pence piece, a silver-toned ten-pence piece, a silver-toned five-pence piece, a copper-toned two-pence piece, and a copper-toned one-penny piece. The coins are housed within a clear protective plastic slab. The reverse of each coin depicts a section of the Royal Shield, which forms the complete design when the coins are arranged together, with the one-pound coin displaying the full shield. The booklet also contains a printed number on the cover reading No. 0572.
Condition report:
The coins appear to be in pristine proof condition with mirrored fields and frosted devices, showing no visible signs of circulation or handled wear (photo 1). The protective plastic slab remains clear without significant scratching. The presentation case and booklet appear well-preserved with no visible tears or structural damage.
