A vintage Japanese-manufactured Sony Hi-Fi stereo system comprising four separate components housed in a wood-effect veneer upright cabinet on casters. The set includes a Sony PS-333 stereo turntable system featuring a direct-drive motor, full automatic operation, and a two-speed platter (33/45 RPM) with strobe markings. The turntable is fitted with a silver-tone S-shaped tonearm and is housed under a clear acrylic dust cover. Below is a Sony TC-U30 stereo cassette deck, a Korean-manufactured front-loading unit with dual analog peak level meters, a three-digit mechanical tape counter, and manual toggle controls for Dolby NR and tape bias selection (Type I, II, or III). The amplifier section consists of a Japanese-manufactured Sony STR-232L FM stereo/FM-AM receiver, equipped with an analog tuning dial for FM, MW, and LW bands, and manual control knobs for volume, balance, bass, and treble. The system is paired with two matching floor-standing speakers featuring brown fabric grilles, each bearing a silver-tone Sony logo. The components are finished in brushed silver-tone metal and are arranged within a matching dark wood-grain effect vertical cabinet.
Condition report:
The system appears in used vintage condition with visible surface dust and grime across all surfaces (photo 1). The acrylic turntable dust cover shows surface scuffing and light scratches consistent with age (photo 3). The speaker grilles exhibit significant dust accumulation and possible staining to the fabric (photo 1). The cabinet veneer shows minor wear and chipping at the leading edges (photo 1). Exposed wiring is visible at the rear and draped over the right speaker (photo 1). The internal mechanics, electronic functionality, and audio output are untested; the belt condition in the cassette deck and the stylus condition on the turntable are unknown.
