Lot 355: Steiff Jointed Mohair Teddy Bear Commemorating 2002
A German-made jointed teddy bear constructed from golden mohair plush. The bear features a five-way jointed body allowing movement of the head, arms, and legs. It is designed with dark eyes and a hand-stitched black thread nose and mouth. The right foot pad is detailed with the year 2002 embroidered in purple thread. The bear is housed within its original clear plastic packaging and is accompanied by a white drawstring fabric bag.
A yellow cloth tag is attached to the left ear with a metal button, featuring red printed text that includes the cursive wordmark Steiff, followed by Made in Germany by and the phrase KNOPF IM OHR. The exterior plastic packaging bears a white adhesive retail label printed with the following information: 66074, EDDYB. 30 1124, 2436, and a barcode above the numbers 505 660. The bear is presented in a brown cardboard shipping box which features a white and orange label to the side, though the text on these labels is partially obscured or represents internal logistics.
Condition report:
The teddy bear appears to be in mint, unused condition, remaining sealed within its original protective plastic bag (photo 1). The mohair plush is clean and retains its original texture with no visible thinning or discolouration. The ear tag and button are securely attached and the red printing is sharp and legible (photo 2). The embroidery on the paw is intact without loose threads. The drawstring bag appears clean and free of staining. The outer cardboard box shows minor shelf wear, including typical creasing and tape remnants consistent with storage and shipping (photo 1).
