A decorative walking cane featuring a cast yellow metal handle in the form of a bird of prey, modelled as a stylized eagle or hawk head. The handle is cast with textured feather detailing to the neck and a hooked beak, featuring a small red inset for the eye. The handle is mounted to the shaft via a plain brass ferrule. The shaft is constructed from turned wood with a dark reddish-brown stained finish. No maker’s marks, signatures, or hallmarks are visible on the metal components or the wooden shaft.
Condition report:
The brass handle exhibits surface wear and areas of minor oxidation consistent with handling (photo 1). The wooden shaft shows several small nicks and light surface scratches through the finish along its length (photo 1). There is a slight visible gap at the junction where the brass ferrule meets the wooden shaft, though the connection remains secure (photo 1).
