Lot 101: A Trio of Cavendish English Cut Crystal Glassware Including a Pair of Wine Goblets and a Creamer
An English cut lead crystal trio consisting of two matching wine goblets and a small cream jug. Each piece features a clear body decorated with a combination of deep geometric cutting and wheel-engraved frosted floral motifs. The decoration consists of five-petal frosted flowers with matte intaglio-style petals, set between deep-cut criss-cross and fan motifs. The goblets have large rounded bowls supported by straight faceted stems and circular bases with star-cut undersides. The cream jug has a matching decorative pattern, a notched rim, a small pouring spout, and a smooth applied handle.
The base of one goblet features a frosted acid-etched mark. The mark consists of a word in a stylized script font reading Cavendish above the word ENGLAND in a block font. A white adhesive price or inventory label is present on one goblet bowl reading 12 12, and an orange adhesive label reading 101 is attached to the bowl of the second goblet.
Condition report:
The glassware appears in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs to the rims, stems, or bases (photo 1). The crystal is bright and clear with no evidence of cloudiness or glass sickness (photo 1). The acid-etched Cavendish mark is clear and legible on the base (photo 2). General surface wear consistent with age and light handling is present on the underside of the bases.
