Lot 51: A Collection of Decorative Ceramics and Glassware Including an Art Deco Pottery Galleon Plaque and Cut Crystal
An assortment of decorative ceramics, porcelain, and glassware. The primary item is a moulded earthenware relief plaque depicting a galleon in full sail, finished in polychrome glazes of blue, red, yellow, and brown. Also included is a deep cut-glass bowl featuring a repeating geometric diamond and star-cut pattern. A ceramic bowl is present with a cream ground decorated with hand-painted stylized scroll motifs in brown. The lot further contains multiple pieces of bone china, including tea wares with a pattern of pink and yellow roses with green foliage and gilded rims, and a white pedestal dish featuring a Transfer-printed bird amongst floral sprays. Small animal and character figurines are present, including a reclining brown foal and a figure in a tricorn hat. A collection of stemware and a clear glass tumbler with a slight pink tint to the base are also included. A white ceramic vessel features a transfer-printed floral spray and a gilded rim. Several items bear printed markings to the underside; the rose-patterned saucers feature a printed mark in green and red with a crown device, although the specific lettering is not clearly legible from the provided angles. The ceramic bowl with brown scrolls has a small orange adhesive price label on the interior rim.
Condition report:
The collection is in mixed condition consistent with age and use. The ceramic bowl with brown scroll motifs shows visible surface grime and discolouration to the interior and rim. The cut-glass bowl and stemware appear generally intact, though fine surface scratches may be present. The galleon plaque shows some minor wear to the raised glazed highlights. Wear to the gilded rims is evident on several of the porcelain tea wares. The figurines appear complete without immediate evidence of major fractures, though surface dust is present across the lot.
