Lot 28: A Collection of Kings Pattern Silver Plated and Stainless Steel Flatware

Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A large collection of flatware in the traditional Kings pattern, a 19th-century style featuring a double-struck design with a central shell motif, honeysuckle, and scrolling edges. The service includes table knives, dinner forks, dessert spoons, soup spoons, and smaller spoons, possibly teaspoons or coffee spoons. The knives are of two-piece construction, featuring handles in the Kings pattern fitted with blades. A blade visible in the red storage box is impressed with the literal text STAINLESS STEEL; below this, there are further characters and a small device that are not legible. The forks and spoons are finished with a high-shine polish. The handles of several pieces bear small rectangular impressed marks consistent with manufacturer stamps, but the specific characters and symbols within these marks are not legible through the plastic packaging. The collection is housed in a red storage box with a white interior and across several plastic bags.

Condition report:

The items are largely protected within individual plastic film bags. Visible oxidation and tarnish are present on several pieces, appearing as a golden-yellow or dark grey discoloration, most notably on the bowls of the spoons (photo 1). The red storage box shows signs of wear, including fraying and loss of material at the edges and corners (photo 1). No other defects are visible through the packaging.
