Lot 598: Large Rectangular White Painted Wicker Storage Chest with Fabric Liner
A large rectangular storage chest constructed from woven wicker with a distressed white painted finish. The chest features a matching hinged lid and a removable cream-coloured fabric liner that wraps over the top edge. The interior contains a clear plastic storage bag with folded fabric, likely an additional or matching liner. On the front left corner of the lid is an orange rectangular adhesive label featuring the handwritten numbers 5, 7, 8. A small, white, circular adhesive label is located on the front right edge of the lid; the characters on this label are not legible. No other maker’s marks or manufacturer labels are present.
Condition report:
The white painted finish exhibits significant wear and chipping throughout, particularly along the lid edges and raised portions of the weave, exposing the natural wicker underneath (photo 1). The fabric liner shows creasing and light marking or discoloration in the corners consistent with domestic use (photo 2). The wicker structure appears sound with no visible breakage to the weave.
