Lot 302: A Group of Multi-coloured Coiled Woven Palm Trays
A group of circular, shallow woven trays or baskets featuring a multi-coloured concentric pattern. The pieces are constructed using a coiled weaving method with natural and dyed fibres, possibly palm or raffia. The design incorporates alternating bands of bright pink, green, yellow, and natural cream tones, finished with a solid pink stitched rim. The trays are presented in a stack. Two small orange rectangular adhesive labels are attached to the right edge of the uppermost basket; one bears the handwritten number 12 in black ink, and the other bears the number 302.
Condition report:
The items show consistent vibrant colouration. There is minor fraying and occasional loose ends of the natural fibres visible along the outer rims and within the coiled structure of the top tray (photo 1).
