Lot 474: Vintage Black & Decker Workmate cast aluminium and steel folding workbench and vice
A vintage Black & Decker Workmate dual-height folding workbench and vice, featuring a cast aluminium H-frame construction and a blue-painted steel base. The unit is designed with a twin-screw clamping mechanism controlled by two plastic-tipped crank handles. The work surface is composed of two adjustable wooden boards. The upper horizontal cast aluminium cross-member displays the printed black lettering Black & Decker, and the lower cross-member is marked Workmate in the same style. The workbench includes a blue-painted steel footrest at the base. A small orange adhesive label remnant is visible on one of the wooden planks.
Condition report:
The workbench shows signs of heavy workshop use and age-related wear. The wooden work surfaces are weathered with numerous stains, paint spatters, and surface gouges (photo 1). Significant surface rust and paint loss are visible on the blue-painted steel footrest and the lower leg sections (photo 1). The cast aluminium frames exhibit surface oxidation and a buildup of workshop dirt (photo 1). The functional status of the vice mechanism has not been verified.
