Lot 462: A Teak Slatted Folding Garden Steamer Chair
A traditional garden steamer chair constructed from teak. The design comprises a high backrest with horizontal slats, wide flat armrests, and an integrated, folding footrest also featuring horizontal teak slats. The frame and slats are joined with brass hardware and hinges, allowing the chair to be reclined into multiple positions or folded flat for storage. The timber has developed a weathered silver-grey patina typical of teak left outdoors. No maker marks, labels, or signatures are visible.
Condition report:
The chair exhibits significant weathering with a silver-grey patina across all wooden surfaces (photo 1). Surface dirt, dust, and minor organic staining are present on the slats and frame (photo 1). The brass hardware shows surface oxidation and a darkened patina consistent with age and outdoor use (photo 1). The chair appears structurally complete, though it is pictured in a partially collapsed state (photo 1).
