Lot 452: Regency Style Mahogany and Inlaid Two-Tier Side Table
A mahogany two-tier side table of rectangular form in the Regency revival style. The top surface features mahogany veneers with an inlaid perimeter border of double light-coloured wood stringing. The top is supported by four turned and tapered column-form legs that lead to a full-width lower open shelf. The lower section consists of a box base containing a single full-width drawer, which is fitted with a brass-toned metal drop-bail handle on two circular backplates. The unit is supported by four short, square block feet. Two temporary adhesive labels are present on the mahogany surface: one small white rectangular sticker and one small orange rectangular sticker.
Condition report:
The table is photographed in an inverted position on a concrete floor. The top surface, which is facing downwards in the image, exhibits several visible surface scratches and minor scuffs to the polished finish (photo 1). There is an accumulation of dust across the lower shelf and the exterior of the drawer unit (photo 1). The decorative stringing inlay appears to be intact. The structure appears sound with no visible breaks or missing components to the turned legs or block feet.
