An assortment of 12-inch vinyl LP records contained within two black flip-top storage cases. The collection includes a series titled THE GREAT COMPOSERS AND THEIR MUSIC, identified by a gold-stamped square logo on the front of the right-hand case featuring a stylised lyre symbol. A prominent album in the left-hand case is the soundtrack for RODGERS AND HAMMERSTEIN’S CAROUSEL, with subtext reading FROM THE SOUND TRACK OF THE MOTION PICTURE and A 20TH CENTURY-FOX CINEMASCOPE PICTURE. Several LPs are protected by clear plastic outer sleeves. The right-hand case bears a small orange rectangular adhesive label with the handwritten characters 440 or otth. The collection comprises a mix of classical music part-works and musical theatre soundtracks.
Condition report:
The visible sleeve for the Carousel soundtrack shows moderate shelf wear, rubbing to the edges, and minor creasing at the corners (photo 1). Other visible sleeve edges show yellowing consistent with age. Both black storage cases show surface scuffing and a light accumulation of dust (photo 1). The condition of the vinyl discs themselves has not been graded as they were not removed for inspection.
