Lot 361: Victorian Arts and Crafts Style Bobbin Turned Oak Wall Mirror

Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A rectangular wall mirror constructed from solid oak with a prominent natural grain and mitred corners. The frame is decorated with a continuous bobbin-turned inner border and features additional applied decorative elements to the centre of each rail, consisting of five raised half-bobbins. The piece is characteristic of late Victorian or Edwardian Arts and Crafts styling. A small white rectangular adhesive label is present on the left side of the frame bearing the numeral 4 in black ink. A small orange rectangular adhesive label is located in the upper-left corner of the frame bearing the handwritten number 361. No maker’s names, stamps, or signatures are visible on the front of the piece.

Condition report:

The wooden frame is in generally good condition with minor surface wear, small scuffs, and an accumulation of dust consistent with age and use (photo 1). The original mirror plate exhibits foxing and age-related degradation to the silvering, particularly visible around the edges, as well as general cloudiness across the surface (photo 1). Both adhesive labels remain attached to the wood surface.
