Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

This monochrome lithograph by William Heaton Cooper depicts Scafell Crag in the Lake District, rendered in a palette of blue-grey and off-white. The composition focuses on the steep, textured rock faces and deep gullies characteristic of the artist’s mountain landscapes. A handwritten signature in pencil reads W. Heaton Cooper in the lower-left margin. The reverse of the frame features a handwritten inscription in ink on the brown paper backing tape reading To Jane – with love from Ophelia and Heaton. April 16th 1965. An orange rectangular adhesive sticker reading 255 is located at the top right of the glass, and a small white lot sticker reading 10 is at the bottom right corner. The print is housed in a simple white-painted wooden frame with a hardboard backing.

Condition report:

The paper shows general age-toning and multiple small foxing spots, most prominent in the upper sky and snow-filled areas (photo 1). The white-painted frame has minor scuffs and handling marks consistent with its age (photo 1). The brown paper backing tape on the reverse is brittle, peeling, and stained (photo 2). A moisture stain is visible on the upper left corner of the hardboard backing (photo 2).
