Lot 208: A Collection of Maureen Sullivan Leaded Stained Glass Panels and Fragments
An assortment of leaded stained glass components produced by the Maureen Sullivan studio in Tewkesbury. The collection includes various motifs constructed from textured and coloured cathedral glass, as well as opalescent glass. One piece depicts a stylized bird in dark blue, amber, and textured orange glass. Another component is a crescent shape in textured yellow-amber glass. A candle motif is formed from white opalescent glass with a leaded flame detail. The lot also contains a rectangular panel featuring a hand-painted nimbed figure in a blue robe, set against a geometric background of red, blue, and amber glass. These pieces are constructed using traditional lead cames. A yellow adhesive studio label is present on the rectangular panel, printed with the characters MAUREEN SULLIVAN, BREDON, TEWKESBURY, GLOS, TEL (0684) 274089. The label also has a handwritten number 208 in orange ink. Several components have thin copper wires attached for hanging.
Condition report:
The items are loose and disassembled fragments contained within a cardboard box (photo 1). The lead cames show surface oxidation and a dull grey patina consistent with age. Surface dust is present throughout all glass segments. Some glass segments appear loose within the lead cames.
