Two cast iron kitchen kettles of traditional form. The larger kettle features the name HOLCROFT and the text No 2 5 PTS cast in relief on the shoulder, identifying it as a product of the Thomas Holcroft & Sons foundry in Wolverhampton. It is fitted with a swivel wrought iron handle and a matching cast iron lid. The second kettle has No 1 4 PINTS cast in relief on the shoulder. This kettle also features a swivel wrought iron handle and a matching cast iron lid. An orange adhesive label reading 10 is attached to the lid of the smaller kettle. Both vessels are constructed from heavy cast iron and feature gooseneck spouts.
Condition report:
Both kettles exhibit extensive surface oxidation and pitting across the entire exterior (photo 1). The smaller 4-pint kettle has a broken and jagged spout tip (photo 1). The larger Holcroft kettle appears structurally intact with no visible cracks (photo 2). An adhesive price sticker is present on the lid of the smaller kettle (photo 1).
