Lot 392: A Vintage Pressed Glass and Brass Mounted Domed Ceiling Light Shade
A large mid-20th-century pressed glass ceiling light shade of circular domed form. The heavy glass body is clear at the crown, transitioning to a warm amber or topaz colour towards the outer rim. The design features a complex geometric pattern including a central radiating sunburst of linear ribs around the finial, leading into three concentric tiers of diamond-point facets. The outermost section is finished with a broad band of large vertical fluted rectangular panels, each ending in a sharp point. The shade is surmounted by a decorative cast-brass finial of tiered bell form with a knop top. No manufacturer marks or signatures are visible.
Condition report:
The item is in good vintage condition with surface dust and light grime consistent with age and previous use. No significant structural cracks or large chips are visible. Minor flea-bite nibbles may be present along the sharpest edges of the geometric pattern. The brass finial shows light surface oxidation.
