An assortment of vintage angling equipment consisting of a metal fly fishing reel mounted on a detached rod handle and a manual line dryer. The reel is of aluminium alloy construction, featuring a single winding handle and a central screw-fastened faceplate. It is attached to a wooden rod handle finished in an orange-brown stain, featuring two sliding metal reel seats and a single wire line guide. The line dryer is constructed from a green-painted metal frame with a central folding spool. It features a manual winding crank with a composite handle and contains a quantity of wound dark line and light blue monofilament line. A white adhesive label on the reel faceplate is printed with the numbers 1 9 1 9 and an orange label on the rod handle bears the handwritten digits 2 9 4. No manufacturer or brand marks are visible on the exterior surfaces of either item.
Condition report:
The fishing reel shows significant surface oxidation and pitting across the metal body and faceplate; the mechanical action is untested. The wooden rod handle displays general surface wear, minor scuffs to the finish, and light accumulation of grime. The line dryer exhibits heavy surface corrosion and rust on the unpainted metal bars, with intermittent paint loss and chipping on the green-finished frame components. The wound line is of unknown age and integrity.
