Lot 637: Mid 20th Century Regency Style Mahogany Drum Table
A circular drum table in the Regency style, dating to the mid 20th century. The piece is constructed from mahogany with flame mahogany veneers, featuring cross-banded borders and boxwood stringing to the frieze. The frieze contains a series of drawers, comprising a combination of functional and faux fronts, each fitted with brass ring pull handles. The circular top is inset with a brown leather writing surface, finished with gold-tooled decorative borders. The table is supported by a central turned pedestal base with four out-swept, reeded legs terminating in brass caps and casters. A small white rectangular label is adhered to the edge of the tabletop.
Condition report:
Fair condition, requiring restoration. The leather-inset top shows significant wear, including staining, scuffing, and a notable area of loss or peeling at the front edge. There is a small circular white mark or stain near the centre of the leather. The wood frame and base show general scuffs, scratches, and minor veneer losses, particularly along the lower edge of the frieze and on the legs. One brass ring pull handle is missing or damaged.
