Lot 635: Karastan Blue Heriz 748 Wool Rug
A wool pile rug manufactured by Karastan in the Blue Heriz 748 pattern. The design is centred on a large, multi-lobed medallion in terracotta and navy blue tones set against a cream or ivory field. The field is densely decorated with scrolling floral vines and palmettes. The corner spandrels are rendered in light blue and terracotta with matching floral motifs. The main border has a dark navy ground featuring a repeating pattern of stylized floral heads and scrolling foliage, enclosed by several narrow guard borders in cream and terracotta. The rug is finished with a white cotton fringe. A small white rectangular adhesive label marked with the numbers 7 and 7 is present near the centre of the rug.
Dimensions: Approximately 180 cm x 275 cm (estimated).
Condition report:
The rug is shown partially rolled, which precludes a full assessment of its entire surface. Based on the visible sections, the wool pile appears to be in good, even condition with no significant evidence of wear or damage to the foundation. The selvedges are intact. The cotton fringe shows minor tangling and unevenness consistent with age and use. There are no obvious stains or repairs visible on the exposed surfaces.
