A hand-knotted Caucasian tribal rug featuring a deep navy blue field decorated with large geometric octagonal medallions containing internal geometric devices. The field is further adorned with scattered smaller tribal motifs. The composition is framed by a multi-band border, with the primary border displaying a repeating geometric floral scroll in cream, light blue, and dark brown. The rug is constructed with a wool pile on a wool foundation. A small white inventory label is attached to the surface with the characters L L 1 1. A second rug with an all-over earth-toned pattern is visible rolled beneath the primary item.
Condition report:
The rug shows signs of age and use consistent with its tribal origin. There is visible surface dust and dirt throughout. The wool pile exhibits moderate and relatively even wear. The fringe at the visible end is short with some fraying and irregularity. Heavy creasing is present across the field and borders due to being folded or stored under weight.
