Lot 499: Philips 4404 Stereo Four Track Reel To Reel Tape Recorder
A Philips 4404 stereo four-track reel-to-reel tape recorder, manufactured in Austria. The unit features a grey top plate with wood-effect side panels and a silver-toned lower control section. The head cover is mounted with a red and silver badge reading 4404 Stereo. Functional elements include five mechanical transport buttons for rewind, fast forward, play, and stop functions. There are four rotary control knobs for volume, balance, tone, and record levels. A three-digit analogue tape counter is located to the left of the head assembly. The machine offers two recording speeds, selectable via a toggle switch for 19/7.5 and 9.5/3.75 IPS. A track selector switch provides settings for 3-2, 1-4, ST, and PAR.
