Lot 419: An early 20th-century Arts and Crafts style oak drop-leaf table
An early 20th-century drop-leaf table of solid oak construction. The table comprises a rectangular fixed central section with two semi-circular drop leaves that form a round top when extended. The top surfaces are made from quarter-sawn oak, highlighting the prominent medullary ray or tiger grain figuring. The table stands on straight rectangular-section legs united by a floor-level H-stretcher. No manufacturer’s marks or labels are visible. An orange auction lot sticker numbered 419 is adhered to the edge of one leaf.
Condition report:
The table displays wear consistent with age and use. The finish on the top and drop leaves is significantly worn, showing patchy, uneven surfaces and areas of fading. There are numerous surface scratches and scuffing, particularly to the edges and legs.
