Lot 393: Two Art Deco Mottled Pink and White Glass Lamp Shades
Two vintage art glass lamp shades featuring a marbled pink and white pattern, a style characteristic of the Art Deco period often referred to as cloud glass. The first shade is formed as a dome with a flared and stepped circular base and features a circular aperture at the top. The second, larger shade is designed in a lobed, six-pointed star form with vertical ribbing following the contours of the lobes. The glass in this piece exhibits a colour gradient, moving from a saturated coral pink at the top aperture to a pale pink and white at the scalloped base. Both shades are manufactured from glass with integrated mottled inclusions. Adhesive labels are present on the exterior of both pieces, marked with the numbers 393 and 6. No maker signatures or factory marks are visible.
Condition report:
Both shades are in good condition. There are no visible cracks or significant chips to the bodies of either piece. Minor shelf wear is evident on the base rims, consistent with age and use. Residual adhesive from labels is present on the surface. Some internal air bubbles and flow lines are present, which are inherent to the manufacturing process.
