Lot 381: Two Vintage D.C. Thomson British Boys Adventure Comics, The Wizard and Warlord, August 1976
Two vintage British weekly picture-story papers for boys published by D.C. Thomson & Co. Ltd. The items include one issue of The Wizard (2nd Series) dated 28 August 1976, issue number 337. The front cover features the story Blake’s Blenheim with a 5p cover price. The second comic is an issue of Warlord featuring the stories Bayonet Charge and Tommy Atkins’ War Inside. Both publications are printed on newsprint paper with staple bindings and feature high-action military-themed cover illustrations characteristic of mid-1970s British adventure comics.
Condition report:
Both comics are in ungraded, raw condition. There is significant age-related tanning and browning to the newsprint paper stock throughout. Visible wear is present along the spine edges, with rounding and minor chipping to the corners. The Wizard issue shows a prominent vertical crease to the front cover and some edge fraying. General surface wear and handling marks are present on both items, consistent with age and use.
