Lot 366: An Early 20th Century Arts and Crafts Style Brass Fireside Companion Set on Stand
An early 20th-century brass fireside companion set comprising a stand and four tools. The stand features a weighted, tiered circular base supporting a central cylindrical stem. The top of the stand is fitted with a large, horizontal circular brass plate set with a central translucent blue glass cabochon in a raised mount, topped with a plain finial. Four fireside tools are suspended from the top plate by brass chains, consisting of a shovel, a hearth brush, a poker, and a pair of tongs. Each tool is designed with a decorative twisted handle. No maker marks or signatures are visible. The item retains several modern paper auction lot labels, including an orange sticker marked 366, a white square sticker marked 20, and a white rectangular label on the base marked 221 200.

Condition report:
The set is in used condition with an overall aged patina. There is visible surface tarnish, oxidation, and minor pitting to the brass components throughout. The brush bristles show significant wear and some loss. The central blue glass cabochon appears intact and free of major chips or cracks. All four tools are present and the structure is sound.
