A pair of Carl Veitch 20×50 Porro prism binoculars. The instrument features a black-finished metal body with textured grip panels and 50mm objective lenses. The left shoulder plate is marked CARL VEITCH above a serial number. The right shoulder plate is inscribed 20 X 50, 157ft. at 1000yds., and COATED OPTICS. The central hinge includes a graduated interpupillary distance scale with visible markings for 60 and 70. The binoculars are accompanied by their original brown leather hard-sided carrying case, which features a red fabric lining and a leather shoulder strap with a buckle closure.
Condition report:
The leather case shows significant exterior scuffing, surface wear, and a heavy patina consistent with age and use. The interior red lining displays minor wear and light soiling. The binoculars\' metal body has small areas of finish loss on protruding edges. The objective lenses show surface dust and grime; internal clarity regarding fungus or haze has not been professionally verified. The mechanical adjustment dials and eyecups appear to be intact.
